About Ride for the Stars
A benefit for
Ride for the Stars was founded in 2005 to raise funds for the children of the Make-A-Wish foundation. Each summer we assemble riders and drivers from all over to participate in our annual poker run and silent auction. Starting this past year we included a pre-ride bake sale to raise funds to support the ride. And it seems that each year we are gaining more participation. In the past 3 years we've raise enough to grant 2 wishes for the children (see our home page for this year's recipients).
The ride is typically about 130 miles starting in Aurora, CO. We have 5 stops traveling into Morrison, Pine, Golden and then back to Aurora, taking about 7 hours. At each stop the poker cards are drawn. At the last stop prizes are awarded for the best and worst hands.
The ride starts at the American Legion where breakfast is served for a reduced price.
We then proceed into the foothills, stopping at the Platte River Bar & Grill for a short break.
Then on to the Mountain Park where we stop for lunch and libations (included with registration). The Pine stop (about 2 hours) is at a gorgeous woodland park next to the South Platt River.
After lunch it's on to the 4th stop at the Rock Rest Lodge in Golden for a short break.
Then finally to Pitcher's where there will be 50/50, door prizes and a silent auction.
